4 Areas to Consider for Measuring Campus Waste

One of the important objectives of sustainable development is the reduction of the use of non-renewable resources. A university or college uses many resources in the process of producing a well educated graduate who will go on to make important contributions to society and reflect credit on the institution.

One of the important areas of focus for sustainable development is on waste. In this diagram there are four areas that can be analyzed in terms of their impact on the waste of non-renewable resources:

1. A good definition of an effective output
2. An efficient process
3. Renewable resource inputs (renewable and alternative energy technology, rain water)
4. Waste that can be reused (heat recovery, recycling, composting, gray water, etc.)
